This prologue is part of an ongoing book project exploring the nature of incubation and liminality. It is written in German, as the book itself is being developed in German, even though parts of the project may be shared in English.

The text is not meant to explain these concepts, but to offer a direct experience of them. Rather than beginning with definitions or theory, it invites the reader into a situation where familiar structures lose their clarity, where meaning begins to shift, and where a question emerges that cannot be answered immediately.

The book itself will develop the conceptual foundations that follow from such moments. But it starts here — with an experience that precedes explanation.

For millennia, human beings have entered sacred spaces seeking guidance or healing from beyond themselves. Incubation names this impulse — not as superstition, but as the enduring quest to reconnect with a deeper dimension of existence.

Liminality is the disciplined capacity to remain present when certainty dissolves. It is not confusion, but structured openness — the willingness to stay in the in-between long enough for deeper coherence to emerge.

This space emerges from a simple but persistent question: How can reality change in a way that deepens coherence rather than fragmentation? It is an exploration of liminality as a threshold, and incubation as a way of participating more consciously in what seeks to unfold.
